Stenhouse Jr. claims Nationwide Series title
HOMESTEAD, Fla. – In a historic night of racing, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. finished his sophomore season strong, powering the Blackwell Angus® Beef Racing No. 6 Ford to a second-place finish in the Ford 300 and clinching the Nationwide Series Championship in convincing fashion.
Stenhouse Jr. entered Saturday’s race 41 points ahead of his closest competitor, but you wouldn’t have known he had any cushion at all the way he raced. Qualifying in the fourth position, Stenhouse Jr. maintained his spot in the top five for the duration of the race, even leading for 22 laps – all despite having locked up the title by the 28th lap due to six cars retiring from the field.
In the same evening, Roush Fenway teammate Carl Edwards finished in third right behind Ricky and secured the Nationwide Series Owner’s Championship for Roush Fenway Racing. It completed the 1-2 punch for Roush Fenway and led to celebratory burnouts by Stenhouse Jr. and Edwards after the race.
From all of us at Blackwell Angus® Beef Racing, we want to congratulate Ricky and the Roush Fenway team for another exceptional season, and we look forward to whatever the future may hold for this winning partnership.
